2003 Water Bowl Competition at Annual FSAWWA Conference
At the 2003 Annual Conference in Orlando, FSAWWA Young Professionals hosted
the first annual Water Bowl, an exciting “Jeopardy”-like competition
in which the University of South Florida and the University of Central
Florida competed against each other to see which team could answer the
most questions correctly in the least amount of time.
There
were three students on each team. Each round consisted of a series of
10 questions related to drinking water quality, supply, and treatment.
The team with the most points after 10 questions won each round.
Young Professionals Chair Lenore Horton served as scorekeeper, and a panel
of expert judges, including Region 3 Vice Chair Matt Alvarez, Region 4
Vice Chair Richard Anderson, and Greg Taylor of Orlando Utilities Commission
ruled on the correctness of answers and awarded points.
Jason
Parrillo did an excellent job as
moderator asking questions.
The
University of Central Florida team took home the trophy, winning
the 1st Water Bowl Competition along with a check to assist their
FSAWWA Student Chapter with their programs.
