TECHNICAL AND EDUCATION COUNCIL

The mission of the Technical & Education Council is to become THE training and educational resource for water quality
and resources, information systems, water use efficiency and water distribution in the state of Florida. Our training programs include workshops, seminars, online courses, satellite teleconferences, webcasts, certification programs and more. The council is dedicated to providing outstanding training opportunities and expert educational information to our members. The Council consists of five divisions, a chair, a vice-chair, and a secretary. New recruits and volunteers are always welcome to participate. If you are interested in becoming active in the T & E Council and would like to serve on a division, please contact the division chair or one of the other officers, and we will help you get involved. A brief description
of each division is presented below.

Training & Education Division
Chair - Vacant


Training and Education Division focuses on providing a wide variety of training opportunities for water professionals throughout Florida. By offering a wide variety of recurring sessions around the state, they provide opportunities for operators and engineers to gain continuing education units and professional development hours in support of their licenses. The programs are offered in a variety of formats including classroom seminars, on-line, webcasts, teleconferences and hands-on training. The small systems committee focuses on the needs of smaller utility operations.

Distribution System/Operator Certification and Training
(part of the Training & Education Division)

The Distribution System/Operator Certification and Training Committee works in conjunction with the Florida Water and Pollution Control Operators' Association (FW&PCOA) to provide opportunities for operator training and distribution system operator certification. The committee identifies appropriate sites for training and provides approved trainers.

Water Quality & Resources Division

The mission of the Water Quality and Resources Division is to develop training opportunities and disseminate knowledge related to water supply and treatment to achieve the highest quality water for all public supply and to advance technical and institutional practices and advocate the sustainable development, protection, and management of water resources for public water supply.
 




Water Use Efficiency Division

The Water Use Efficiency Division brings together conservation professionals throughout the state to focus attention on water efficiency (water conservation) to help utilities comply with water management district permit requirements and to stretch current supplies. The members develop training and communication materials to assist in implementing cost effective water conservation programs and conservation best management practices.

Distribution Division

The Mission of the Distribution Systems Division is to facilitate the communication of distribution system information among water distribution professionals in an effort to promote more effective and efficient operation of water distribution systems to maintain finished water quality throughout the distribution system.

Information Technology Division

The mission of the IT Division is to become the trusted resource for Information Technology related to Water Systems in the State of Florida. As such, our group is primarily focused on providing training and education opportunities to FS AWWA members in the Information Technology area. We participate in development of seminars, focused technical sessions, conference programs, and internal support for the section's IT related issues.
