2012 16th Annual St. Johns River Clean-up at St. Johns River Florida Section American Water Works Association Region III (FSAWWA) and Florida Water Environment Association Central Florida Chapter (FWEA) joined hands in conducting the St. Johns River cleanup event on March 17th in conjunction with National River Cleanup.
The event was hosted at Blue Springs State Park. Around 60 volunteers from FSAWWA and FWEA were checked in by Ms. Erica Stone and Ms. Jo Ann Jackson at the Riverside Pavilion. Upon registration and receiving the necessary supplies for the cleanup, the volunteers went canoeing in the St. Johns River to pick up trash along the river banks. A pile of trash was accumulated. Lunch was cooked and served at the Riverside Pavilion by master chef Mr. Rishi Immanni, grill master Mr. Chris Jarrett and sous chef Mr. Scott Richards.
This event has been a great success in the past years and continues to draw crowds every year. FSAWWA & FWEA extends great appreciation to the volunteers who helped in the cleanup. Thanks to the FSAWWA Region III sponsors and FWEA Central FL chapter that pioneer this event. A special thank you to all the champions: Erica Stone, Rishi Immanni, Scott Richards, Chris Jarrett, Kunal Nayee, Biyun Huang who did an exceptional job turning the wrench behind the scenes and to the star leadershipsof Rajah Augustinraj, FSAWWA Region III chair and Kristi Fries from FWEA.
