Training Overview

The FSAWWA is the premier water association in Florida, with nearly 3,000 members representing all aspects of the water industry. We are Florida’s leading non-profit technical and education association dedicated to meeting the needs of the state’s water professionals. We offer a series of training and professional development programs including:

  • On Site Safety Training
  • Regional Workshops
  • Technical Conferences in the Spring and Fall
  • Customer Service Workshops
  • Scholarships to students in the drinking water field

The FSAWWA is authorized by the Florida Department of Environmental Protection to offer CEUs for operators and by the Florida Board of Professional Engineers to offer PDHs for professional engineers.

We have various scheduled, on-site, and online training programs covering Safety, Water Resources, and Operation issues. Whether you have just one person or an entire group that needs training, Florida Section AWWA training programs can meet your needs quickly and cost effectively, and they are approved for CEUs and PDHs.

If you have any questions, please contact Donna Metherall, Training Coordinator at (407) 979-4805 or email at We hope to hear from you soon.

Delivery Methods

In order to meet the needs of our members the Florida Section offers training via several different methods:

Classroom – We schedule classes throughout the state covering various topics. The classes are conducted live with an instructor present. We have several topics (see Courses) that we offer to bring to any utility or region that is interested.

Webcast – These classes are conducted via the web and phone. Speakers can be located around the country. These classes are conducted live; the instructor is present to answer questions. When we schedule these classes we try to set up regional sites to encourage regions that are not as active to have events.

Online - The Florida Section offers CEU and PDH approved classes online.

All training provided by the Florida Section is CEU and PDH approved.

The American Water Works Association is known world wide for its training programs. If you take a course sponsored by AWWA, you are eligible for Florida CEUs and PDHs. Here’s how:

On-Demand Training

The Florida Section is aware of the need to be fiscally responsible.  By bringing specialized training directly to your facility, we can help you save on travel.  This will allow more of your employees to attend these courses.  You get to choose the date and topic of the training.  It's that simple.
